Abigail’s Road, Mitole Candy continue red-hot October for Mitole

October 27, 2023

Wins in recent days by Abigail’s Road and Mitole Candy added to a fantastic month for Mitole that upped his winners total to 19 and his progeny earnings to nearly $1.5 million.

The Spendthrift stallion is currently second on the First-Crop Sire list by both winners and wins, third by progeny earnings, and tied for the top spot by black type winners and graded stakes winners.

Abigail’s Road got her second straight win Oct. 25 at Remington Park, prevailing by a half-length in an off-the-turf one-mile race over sloppy going, her first over an off track and around two turns. The bay filly is owned by Jayde Gelner, also her trainer, and was bred in Kentucky by Woodford Thoroughbreds, LLC.

Mitole Candy earned her first win in a 6 ½-furlong maiden special weight race at Charles Town on Oct. 27. The bay filly races for Richard Burnsworth and was bred by Schiano Racing Inc. She hails from the family of graded winners Sea of Secrets, Love That Jazz, Fight for Love and Dancing Jon.

Mitole will have his first Breeders’ Cup starter Friday at Santa Anita when graded stakes winner V V’s Dream contests the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).
