Authentic has gotten off to a flying start with his weanlings at the Keeneland November sale, with three lots already bringing at least $200,000, topped thus far by a $300,000 filly during Tuesday’s second session.

The $300,000 filly, cataloged as hip No. 599 and consigned by Mr. and Mrs. Jody Huckabay’s Elm Tree Farm LLC, went to St. Francis, agent. The filly was bred in Kentucky by Warran J. Harang.

The bay filly is out of the multiple stakes winner Vertical Vision and is a half-sister to Vertical Oak, who counts the Prioress S. (G2) and Miss Preakness S. (G3) among her seven stakes victories.

During Monday’s first session of the sale, Authentic had a $280,000 filly, hip No. 207 consigned by Paramount Sales, agent, and purchased by AAA Thoroughbreds. Earlier in the session, Brookstone Farm went to $200,000 for another filly, hip No. 90, consigned by Legacy Bloodstock.

Authentic, who won the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) on his way to Horse of the Year honors in 2020, has bred 431 mares combined in his first two seasons at Spendthrift. His 2023 fee was recently announced at $60,000 live foal.
