Big returns for Gormley’s first yearlings at F-T

September 10, 2020

Gormley’s first yearlings at the Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase sold for an average of $137,500, more than 18 times his stud fee.

Topping Thursday’s session was hip No. 635, consigned by Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck’s Summerfield and purchased by Quarter Pole Enterprises LLC for $160,000.

The bay colt is a half-brother to stakes winner Little Kansas, out of Green Eyed Cat, whose dam Critical Eye earned over $1 million and won five graded stakes.

Gormley won the FrontRunner S. (G1) at two and the Santa Anita Derby (G1) the following year. In his first two seasons at Spendthrift, he bred a total of more than 300 mares while standing for $7,500 live foal.
