Malibu Moon’s top-class distaffer Come Dancing could stake her claim to divisional honors with a victory in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) at Santa Anita Park.

The 5-year-old millionaire is undefeated in four starts at a mile or under this year, all in graded stakes. She won her last two starts, the Gallant Bloom H. (G2) and Ballerina S. (G1) both by more than three lengths and earned a 114 Beyer Speed Figure when taking the Distaff H. (G3) by nearly eight lengths in early April.

Saturday’s race, which kicks off the day’s Breeders’ Cup action, drew an excellent field of nine, including Into Mischief’s speedster Covfefe. Come Dancing drew post four and will be ridden by Javier Castellano, who was aboard for the most recent two wins.

Trained by Carlos Martin for Blue Devil Racing Stable, Come Dancing has earned $1,054,950 and is the latest of Malibu Moon’s seven million-plus earners. With two months remaining in the year, Malibu Moon has nearly surpassed his 2018 total of winners, stakes wins and stakes winners.
