Communication Memo leads Bolt d’Oro exacta at Oaklawn Park

December 16, 2022

Bolt d’Oro extended his hold on the top spot of the 2022 First-Crop sire list when a pair of colts by the Spendthrift stallion finished 1-2 in a $90,000 maiden special weight race Friday at Oaklawn Park.

Communication Memo proved best with a powerful stretch run. He battled the entire trip with Rocket and Roll before pulling clear in the final furlong to win by four lengths in 1:39.14 for the one-mile contest.

Communication Memo is owned by Bill and Corinne Heiligbrodt, Jackpot Farm and Whispering Oaks. The dark bay was bred in Kentucky by Adrian Regan and Fergus Galvin. Communication Memo’s dam Take a Memo is a daughter of graded stakes winner Memorette. Take a Memo foaled a full sister to Communication Memo this year.

Communication Memo is the 27th 2-year-old winner for Bolt d’Oro. Friday’s 1-2 finish put his progeny earnings at $2,641,116, approximately $180,000 ahead of Good Magic.
