Flash of Mischief takes $250,000 St. Louis Derby

August 30, 2021

Flash of Mischief worn down a stubborn Irish Unity to score a one-length victory in Sunday’s $250,000 St. Louis Derby at Fanduel Sportsbook, formerly known as Fairmount Park.

Flash of Mischief, a 3-year-old son of leading sire Into Mischief, won the Golden Circle S. at Prairie Meadows in May, and is now 5-3-1 in 12 starts, with earnings of $338,102 for owner/breeder Jerry Namy.

Irish Unity had the lead most of the way in the 1 1/16-mile contest, with Flash of Mischief his nearest pursuer. Flash of Mischief appeared to take the lead just before entering the stretch, only to have Irish Unity rally back in front. Flash of Mischief took over for good in the final sixteenth to finish up in 1:46.59 on a fast track.

Out of the stakes-placed Flashy Campaign, Flash of Mischief is from the family of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Sea Hero and Grade 1 winner Eastern Echo.

Into Mischief is having another spectacular year, with 23 stakes winners, 11 of them graded, and more than $17.2 million in progeny earnings to date.
