Game Casa Creed prevails in Racing Hall of Fame S. (G2)

August 2, 2019

Casa Creed and Sombeyay staged a thrilling finish in Friday’s $200,000 National Museum Racing Hall of Fame S. (G2), with Casa Creed (Jimmy Creed) getting the nod over Sombeyay (Into Mischief) in the one-mile turf race.

It was the first graded stakes win for Casa Creed, who won the Kitten’s Joy S. last year and was a close second in the Penn Mile (G2) on June 1st. Sombeyay won last year’s Sanford S. (G3) at Saratoga.

The stage was set for the stretch duel after Sombeyay took over the lead from Award Winner, with Casa Creed making a three-wide bid at the quarter pole. Both horses were all out in the final furlong, but Casa Creed was travelling the best late, winning by a neck in 1:33.72 on a firm course. The time was about a half-second off the track record.

Casa Creed, who has now earned $364,508, races for LRE Racing LLC and JEH Racing Stable LLC. The 3-year-old was bred in Kentucky by Silver Springs Stud and sold to his owners for $105,000 at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Jimmy Creed is fourth on the Third-Crop sire list with more than $2.9 million in progeny earnings, and is in the top 10 by winners with 53.
