Into Mischief debutante wins Del Mar’s Generous Portion S., remains undefeated

August 27, 2016

Miss Sunset, a 2-year-old filly by leading sire Into Mischief, remained perfect and captured her first career stakes victory on Saturday, cruising to an easy 5 ¼-length win as the 1-2 odds-on favorite in the $150,000 Generous Portion S. at Del Mar.

Trained by Jeff Bonde, the promising bay filly ran rivals off their feet in her stakes debut, speeding to a commanding lead into the far turn before increasing her advantage with every stride until being geared down in hand inside the sixteenth pole. She waltzed across the wire in 1:10.46 for six furlongs over a fast local main track, marking her second straight dominant win in as many starts, giving her an average margin of victory of five lengths.

Bred by Premier Thoroughbreds LLC and Alan Klein, Miss Sunset increased her earnings to $123,300 already in her young career for owner Klein or Leherz.

Miss Sunset is one of a dozen juvenile winners so far in 2016 from the largest and bred-bred crop to race to date for Into Mischief, who ranks among the Top 5 Juvenile Sires in North America this year.
