Into Mischief firster gets job done at Saratoga

July 23, 2016

One Liner, a 2-year-old Into Mischief colt, forged to the lead in mid-stretch and went on to a 1 1/2-length maiden special weight win Saturday afternoon at Saratoga.

The colt, who was making his debut, was a $150,000 purchase for co-owners China Horse Club and WinStar Farm at the 2015 Keeneland January Sale. Into Mischief’s excellent July results include Conquest Enforcer taking the Charlie Barley S. and the 2-year-old filly Let It Ride Mom also winning her debut in a Woodbine maiden special weight.

One Liner established a good position in third early under John Velazquez, maintaining that spot around the turn while well off the rail, then battled with Royal Copy in the lane before pulling clear late to stop the timer in 1:04.89 for the 5 1/2-furlongs.

One Liner is the first foal out of Cayala, whose dam Chasethegold is a sister to Grade 1 winners Daredevil and Albertus Maximus. The winner was bred in Kentucky by Kingswood Farm.
