Mia Mischief romps in Oaklawn’s Carousel S.

April 25, 2020

Mia Mischief made short work of the field that included multiple Grade 1 winner Bellafina in Saturday’s $125,000 Carousel S., drawing off with authority in the stretch to win by 4 ½-lengths.

The 5-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, winner of last year’s Humana Distaff (G1) at Churchill Downs, has now won or place in 12 stakes and earned $1,215,234 for Stonestreet Stables.

Mia Mischief is the 13th stakes winner this year for Into Mischief, which is six more than any other stallion standing in North America.

Amy’s Challenge shot to the lead in the six-furlong Carousel, but Mia Mischief was in close pursuit as the leader flew through the half-mile in :45.21. Mia Mischief took over the top spot soon after, then powered away from the pacesetter to complete the distance in 1:09.57 on the fast main track.

“Hopefully we end up in the Breeders’ Cup with her this fall,” trainer Steve Asmussen said. “The ability she has, that’s the direction she should be headed in.”

Mia Mischief was bred by Spendthrift Farm and is out of the Speightstown mare Greer Lynn, whose siblings include graded stakes winners Sing Baby Sing and Roll Hennessey Roll and stakes winners Value Plus and Majorbigtimesheet. Greer Lynn produced a full-sister to Mia Mischief in 2018 and a filly by Into Mischief’s son Goldencents in 2019.
