Mor Spirit makes his mark with $240K colt at Fasig-Tipton

Mor Spirit had his top-priced yearling to date Wednesday at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling sale when hip No. 913 brought a winning bid of $240,000.

The subject dark bay colt was consigned by Sarah Sharp Sales, agent, and purchased by prominent buyers Jim and Susan Hill. The colt previous sold for $45,000 at this year’s OBS Winter sale.

The Kentucky-bred is out of the stakes-winning A. P. Indy mare Beautiful Daniele, who is also the dam of Jimmy Creed’s two-time stakes winner King of Speed and the stakes winner Bodenheimer. This is also the family of champion 2-year-old filly Countess Diana.

Mor Spirit also was represented Wednesday by a $150,000 colt purchased by Quarter Pole Enterprises. Hip No. 1011 was consigned by Gainesway, agent.

Mor Spirit, whose first crop are yearlings of 2021, has bred 236 mares in his first two seasons at stud. He’s being offered for $5,000 S&N in 2022.
