Crazy Mason rolled to a 9 ½-length maiden special weight win Thursday at Saratoga to become the third winner from Coal Front’s first crop.

Crazy Mason, trained by Greg Sacco for Donna Wright, was prominent from the outset of the 5 ½-furlong race, pressuring Uncle Eddie through a half-mile in :46.71. The gray/roan colt took command at the top of the stretch and drew off at will. He was up by a half-dozen lengths in midstretch and continued to pour it on to the wire, finishing in 1:04.75 on a fast main track.

The victory was worth $45,650.

Crazy Mason was bred by Gmbracstables LLC, Mr. & Mrs. Ramon Rangel, and Mr. & Mrs. Zachary Madden. His stakes-placed dam Izshelegal has produced four winners and has a yearling half-sister by Thousand Words who recently sold for $250,000.

Coal Front’s winners include Good and Stout, who became his sire’s first stakes horse on July 8 when he placed in the D. S. Shine Futurity.
