Creed’s Gold rides the rail to Lightning City S. victory
February 14, 2026

Jimmy Creed’s graded stakes winner Creed’s Gold took the inside path to victory in Saturday’s $100,000 Lightning City S. at Tampa Bay Downs to give the 5-year-old daughter of Jimmy Creed her second straight stakes win.
The chestnut turf sprint specialist had been away from the races since last July 5th, when she won the Hendrie S. (G3) at Woodbine.
In the five-furlong Lightning City, Creed’s Gold quickly got to the inside to take up a spot in fourth one the backstretch. On the turn, she was passed by a few horses, but held her spot as she waited for an opening. When one appeared at the top of the stretch, she willing forged to the lead and won going away by 1 ¾-lengths.
With the win, Creed’s Gold is an excellent 5-2-2 in 12 starts and has earned $318,688 for owner Kristin Meldahl. The winner was bred in Kentucky by Linda Griggs.
Creed’s Gold is one of Jimmy Creed’s seven graded stakes winners. His most accomplished performer, four-time Grade 1 winner and $2.6 million earner Casa Creed, is standing his second season at stud in Kentucky this year.
