Goodall the second Saratoga stakes winner in two days for Yaupon
June 4, 2026

Goodall was much the best in Thursday’s Jersey Girl S. at Saratoga, carrying the Spendthrift Farm silks to a three-length win in the six-furlong contest for 3-year-old fillies.
The victory comes just one day after Venetta captured the Bouwerie S., also at Saratoga. Goodall, who won the Purple Martin S. at Oaklawn Park in March, is one of Yaupon’s five stakes winners this year.
After breaking on top, Goodall relinquished the lead to Carmel Coast, who led the way through swift fractions of :21.92 and :44.16. Goodall, who was tracking in second, pounced on the pacesetter in upper stretch and took the lead for good with a furlong to run. She pulled away late to stop the timer in a very respectable 1:08.78 on a fast track.
“We felt like she was a really talented filly right along,” said Spendthrift’s Ned Toffey. “Her first couple starts were OK. She really stepped up in a stake two starts back, and we were all scratching our heads on Derby weekend [when fifth in the GIII Eight Belles]. She sort of threw in a clunker. We were hoping that she was ready to bounce back, and all indications were that she was, and she sure did it.”
Goodall is now 3-1-0 in five starts and has earned $253,030.
Mark Toothaker, who co-bred Goodall with William and Corrine Heiligdrodt, purchased Goodall’s dam Moon Over Mag Bay at the Keeneland November sale in 2021. The Malibu Moon mare is also responsible for an unraced juvenile filly by Yaupon and a 2026 colt by Yaupon.
