Into Mischief filly romps to 8 ½-length Serena’s Song S. victory

Lost Horizon shot through an opening along the rail just before turning for home on her way to a dominating score in the $100,000 Serena’s Song S. Saturday at Monmouth Park.
After finishing third in the Top Flight S. March 29 in her stakes debut, the 4-year-old filly is now the 16th stakes winner this year for Into Mischief, which leads all sires. The seven-time champion sire also leads the list by stakes horses, graded stakes winners & horses, and Grade 1 winners & horses.
Tracking the leader Domino Vitali in third through the first three furlongs, Lost Horizon took advantage of an opening along the inside with just over a quarter-mile to run. She went through the gap smoothly and almost immediately opened up a two-length lead. She was all alone in the final furlong and finished the 1 mile and 70 yards in 1:42.88 on a fast track.
“I had plenty of horse the whole way, so I was just trying to save ground” said jockey Luis Rivera Jr. “I knew I had enough to make my move whenever I wanted to, so I wasn’t concerned about keeping her in the clear because I knew when I asked her, no one was going to stay with me. I was just waiting for the rail and watching [frontrunner Domino Vitali] because I didn’t know if that horse would drop down on me. So, I was waiting until the timing was right and then the rail opened for me and she just took off.”
Owned by Peter Brant, Lost Horizon is 3-1-1 in six starts and has earned $196,650. The bay filly was bred in Kentucky by White Birch Farm, Inc.
Lost Horizon is out of Chilean Horse of the Year Wow Cat (CHI), who also won the Beldame S. (G1) stateside. Wow Cat foaled a full brother to Lost Horizon this year.
