March 11, 2026

A striking colt from the first crop of champion Jackie’s Warrior brought a winning bid of $500,000 during Tuesday’s opening session of the OBS March sale.

The final price was the sixth-most paid for any individual during the session.

Consigned by Sequel Bloodstock, agent for breeder Chester Broman, hip No. 135 went to Bill Childs.

The chestnut colt is out the stakes winner Makin My Move, who is out of the multiple stakes winner Hard to Stay Notgo and a half-sister to stakes winner Mommy’s Turn. This is also the female family of European Group 1 winner Minardi and sires Fed Biz and Tale of the Cat.

Jackie’s Warrior was a rare individual who won Grade 1 races at 2, 3 and 4. He was named Champion Sprinter following his 3-year-old campaign that included wins in the Allen Jerkens (G1), Pat Day Mile (G2), Gallant Bob (G2) and Amsterdam (G2). All told, he won five Grade 1 events and nearly $3 million in purses.

Currently standing for a fee of $25,000 S&N, Jackie’s Warrior covered an average of 177 mares in his first three years at stud.
