Maximus Meridius ‘blitzes’ foes for second straight stakes win

The year ended on a high note for Maximus Mischief when Maximus Meridius tallied his second straight stakes win on New Year’s Eve in the Blitzen S. at Parx.
The bay 5-year-old won three stakes in 2025, finishing with an excellent record of 4-2-0 in eight starts this year. Maximus Meridius is one of 10 stakes winners this year for Maximus Mischief, who was one of only two Third-Crop sires with multiple Grade 1 winners in 2025. Maximus Mischief will stand for $20,000 S&N in 2026.
After a hesitant start in the seven-furlong Blitzen, Maximus Meridius quickly rallied and took the lead in the first quarter-mile. Buccherino pressed him closely for a half-mile, when Maximus Meridius asserted himself and drew clear. Alone in the stretch, the won by 3 ¾-lengths in 1:24.43 on the fast track.
