Alwaysintomischief dug in gamely in the stretch to win the $75,000 Tall Stacks S. April 10 at Belterra Park by three-quarters of a length for his second stakes win in a row [WATCH RACE].

The 3-year-old son of Maximus Mischief had to work harder than in his eight-length tally in last month’s Howard B. Noonan S., but was up to the task in Friday’s 6 ½-furlong affair.

After breaking on top, Alwaysintomischief settled back in third for the backstretch run. On the turn he made a bold move for the lead while three-wide, then fought off pacesetter Spellcast to secure the win.

The winner is owned by Daniel and Patricia Yates and was bred by RMS Racing, LLC. The bay colt’s dam Atlantic Zip has produced five winners from six starters, including the stakes-placed Dare Day.

Maximus Mischief, who is currently in the top five on the Second-Crop Sire list, had an excellent first week of May with the colt Combativa winning a Group 1 in Puerto Rico, the 8 ¼-length allowance winner Raging Torrent at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day, and Maximus Mischief finishing second in the Gold Fever S. at Aqueduct.
