Mitole’s Shisospicy lights up the board at Fasig-Tipton’s November Sale

November 5, 2025

Newly crowned Breeders’ Cup Champion Shisospicy by Mitole lights up the board at Fasig-Tipton’s November sale, selling for $5,200,000.

Shisospicy after her dominating win the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint

The buyer was not new to her ownership, as Morplay Racing bought out co-owners Qatar Racing. She will remain with trainer Jose d’Angelo who conditioned her to 4 stakes wins in 2025, including her last out historic win in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint where she became one of only eight 3yo fillies in history to beat the boys in Breeders’ Cup Race.

Cataloged as Hip 147 from the Gainesway’s consignment, this was her fourth time through the sale ring. First, in 2023 as a short yearling in the Keeneland January Sale where she sold to Fish Stables for $100,000. They then sold her in the 2023 Fasig-Tipton July sale for $200,000 to Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds. She RNAed for $300,000 in the 2024 Ocala Sprint 2yo Sale.

Shisospicy has been in the top 3 in 8 of 9 total starts, 6 of those being wins. She broke her maiden on debut at Gulfstream Park in 2024 before placing in a pair of stakes races in her last start as a 2yo and first as a 3yo. She won her next 3 starts, one of those being the G3 Manzelle Stakes before an ambitious start in the G1 Commonwealth Stakes at Royal Ascot. She was off the board there and returned stateside to win the G2 Music City Stakes at Kentucky Downs. Her next start was at the Breeders’ Cup.

Shisospicy filly was bred in Kentucky by Bill Heiligbrodt & Corinne Heiligbrodt, who campaigned her sire Mitole to become one of the fastest Breeders’ Cup Sprint champions in history.
