Mitole’s Shisospicy primed for repeat in Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1)
October 27, 2026
Shisospicy looks to repeat her historic score in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1), this time at Keeneland on Saturday afternoon.
Now 4, Shisospicy drew post 2 in the field of 14 and will be ridden by Luis Saez, who replaced the injured Irad Ortiz, Jr.
Shisospicy has made just one start since last year’s Breeders’ Cup and in recent weeks has been training at Saratoga and Keeneland for her conditioner Jose D’Angelo. The Morplay Racing colorbearer is 6-1-1 in 10 starts and has earned $2,095,270.
After selling at Keeneland last November for $5.2 million, the decision was made to keep her in training for her 4-year-old season. A win on Saturday would be reminiscent of Da Hoss’s long layoff victory in the 1998 Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1).
The 5 ½-furlong Turf Sprint is race 5 on Saturday, with a post time of 1:48 pm ET.
Mitole, who won the Breeders’ Cup Sprint during his Eclipse Award-winning season of 2019, will stand the 2027 season at Spendthrift for $10,000 S&N.
