Yaupon sprinters on display in 2026 Breeders’ Cup

October 27, 2026

With Brickyard Belle in Friday’s Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1) and Stradale in Saturday’s Sprint (G1), leading Second-Crop sire Yaupon has a pair of chances to get his first Breeders’ Cup winner.

Brickyard Belle is undefeated in two starts, the latest coming in the Oct. 3 Matron S. (G3) at Belmont Park, when she rallied strongly to beat fellow Breeders’ Cup entrant Harper’s Corner.

The dark bay 2-year-old filly is owned by Brickyard Belle Racing, Beggs and Flowers, and Briles Family Stable and is trained by Miguel Clement. Brickyard Belle drew post 4 in the 12-horse field and will be ridden by Manny Franco. She was bred in Kentucky by Hall Stables LLC and sold for $600,000 at the OBS April 2-year-old sale.

The Juvenile Turf Sprint is race 6 on Friday, with a post time of 2:55 pm ET.

Stradale, owned by Kaleem Shah and trained by Steve Asmussen, drew post 12 of 13 for the six-furlong Sprint. The 3-year-old colt comes into the race off of graded wins in the Gallant Bob S. (G2) and Mahony S. (G3).

Flavien Prat picks up the mount on the $1.3 million OBS Spring 2-year-old grad, who was bred in Kentucky by Richard Bremer and Cheryl Sprick.

The Sprint is race 8 and runs at 3:42 pm.

Yaupon has accounted for 15 stakes winners and seven graded winners this year and will almost certainly be the champion Second-Crop sire at the end of the year. Spendthrift recently announced his 2027 fee at $100,000 S&N.
