Vekoma’s Faster Gator overpowers foes in $300,000 Steel Valley Sprint S.

Faster Gator became leading Second-Crop sire Vekoma’s 15^th stakes winner of 2025 with a commanding performance in the $300,000 Steel Valley Sprint S. Nov. 24 at Mahoning Valley.

The 3-year-old colt, who was second in the Bay Shore S. in January, won Monday’s six furlong contest by a 1 ¾-lengths. He was third for the first quarter-mile, then moved three-wide on the turn and easily went by the leaders. He was unthreatened in the stretch and finished up in 1:10.46, earning a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 94.

The versatile dark bay, who has started at six different tracks this year, is 5-1-1 in nine outings and has earned $353,936 for owners Richard Burnsworth and Dunn Brothers. He was bred in Kentucky by Romar Farm LLC and BRS.

The champion Freshman Sire of 2024, Vekoma is leading the Second-Crop list by a wide margin. He will stand the 2026 season for $100,000 S&N.
