Sittin At the Bar delivers another FG stakes win

March 30, 2013

Sittin At the Bar, the 3-year-old Into Mischief filly who was already a two-time stakes winner at the Fair Grounds meet, made it number three with three-quarter length score in the $75,000 Crescent City Oaks Saturday at the New Orleans track.

With confident handling by rider Shaun Bridgmohan, Sittin At The Bar settled off the pace set by Mischievous Mama, who covered the first quarter-mile in :24.02 and the half-mile in :47.33. Bridgmohan angled his filly to the outside, and made his bid, drawing off to a three-quarter length margin. The final clocking for the mile and 70 yard stakes, over a fast main track, was 1:44.02

“I put the blinkers on for a reason other than today,” said trainer Brett Brinkman. “There was probably a little more pace but, you know, Shaun rode the filly excellent. He’s pretty much push button.”

“She’s a classy filly,” said Bridgmohan. “My job was easy. I was just trying to be a good pilot and keep her out of trouble like Brett says.”

Bred by Spendthrift Farm, Sittin At The Bar won her fourth race from six starts and earned $45,000, increasing her career bankroll to $326,369. Her dam Fast Laner won over a quarter million dollars, highlighted by her win in the Dixie Flag S.

Into Mischief, who stands this year for $20,000 at Spendthrift, is third on the Second Crop sire list. He has a pair of Kentucky Derby (G1) hopeful colts in Vyjack, who will start in next week’s Grade 1 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct, and Goldencents, whose next race will be in Saturday’s Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby.
