Sittin At the Bar gets third SW of 2013

July 7, 2013

Into Mischief’s top 3-year-old filly Sittin At the Bar turned in a powerful performance to roll to a four-length victory in Saturday night’s $100,000 Louisiana Legends Ladies Sprint S.

Along with Mischievous Mama, the 3-year-old filly was one of two stakes winners on the card for her sire Into Mischief, who ranks fifth on the 2013 Second Crop Sire list with $1.6 million in progeny earnings. His four stakes winners have accounted for eight added money victories this year, both second-best among all sophomore sires.

Sent of the 6-5 favorite in the 5 1/2-furlong sprint, jockey Mark Guidry allowed Sittin At the Bar to settle in seventh for the run down the backstretch. Content to go four wide around the turn, the bay steadily gained ground until she forged to the lead with about a furlong to go. Guidry gave her two taps and she drew off with gusto to get the distance in 1:03.52, about a second off the track record.

Sittin At the Bar, who annexed the $50,000 Acadian S. May 31 at Evangeline in her previous start, also accounted for the $75,000 Crescent City Oaks in March at Fair Grounds. She now has five stakes wins to her credit, with earnings of $382,140 and a record of 6-2-1 in 11 starts.

Bred by Spendthrift Farm from the stakes winning mare Fast Laner, Sittin At the Bar has proved a wise purchase for her trainer Paul Ladner, who acquired the filly for $30,000 at the 2011 Louisiana September Yearling sale.
