Temple City’s $190,000 colt, hip No. 160, at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling sale

Temple City had a pair of colts go through the ring during Monday’s first session of the Sept. 10-23 Keeneland Yearling sale, selling for an average of more than 16 times his bred-on stud fee.

Topping the day was hip No. 217, consigned by Four Star Sales Agency for Spendthrift Farm. Crupi’s New Castle was the winning bidder, at $300,000, for the dark bay juvenile. Out of the stakes-winning mare More Than Pretty, the colt is a half-brother to multiple Grade 2 winner Kauai Kate and Grade 3 winner Winding Way, both by Malibu Moon.

Hip No. 160, consigned by the same connections, went to Shadwell Estate Company for $190,000. The colt’s dam Malibu Pier won three graded stakes and has produced the Grade 1-placed stakes winner Coasted and stakes-placed filly Malibu Stacy, both by Tizway.

Temple City, who has nine stakes horses to date this year, has a total of 38 lots cataloged in the Keeneland sale.
