Three Vekoma 2yos post fastest work at OBS

A trio of juveniles from the first crop of multiple Grade 1 winner Vekoma had the quickest furlong of the day during Tuesday’s Under Tack Show for the upcoming OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training.

The two fillies and one colt each worked in :9 4/5 seconds. All three will sell next Wednesday, April 17, the second session of the four-day sale.

The first to post the bullet work was hip No. 411, a colt consigned by Sequel Bloodstock, Agent for Chester & Mary Broman. The dark bay, named Rookie Racer is a half-brother to graded stakes winner Classy Edition and multiple stakes winner Newly Minted.

Hip No. 435, a chestnut filly consigned by Grassroots Training & Sales LLC, Agent, posted the bullet time soon after. The filly’s dam, stakes-placed Our Jenny B, comes from the family of Grade 1 winners Overanalyze and Meadow Breeze.

Closing out the trio was hip No. 479, a filly consigned by Mayberry Farm, agent. The dark bay Kentucky-bred is out of Pray for Leslie, whose first foal is Alys Beach, a daughter of Omaha Beach who placed in last year’s Alcibiades S. (G1).

“She’s always been a lovely, honest filly,” Summer Mayberry said of hip 479. “We were expecting that she would work very well. She tries every single time. She=s got a great disposition. She just makes our job look easy.

“We have three still at the farm,” Mayberry added about Vekoma’s first juveniles. ”They all seem like they are pretty nice horses. They have great dispositions, good conformation. Just very nice racehorses.”

Vekoma has a total of 34 lots in the OBS catalog, The sale kicks off Tuesday, April 16 at 10:30 am ET.
