Truth Seeker gives Into Mischief a Saturday stakes double

March 11, 2023

Truth Seeker’s incredible stretch run carried the son of Into Mischief into the winner’s circle in Saturday’s $100,000 Phoenix Gold Cup.

The bay was one of his sire’s two stakes winners on the afternoon, coming a couple of hours after Frank’s Rockette won the Hurricane Bertie S. (G3) at Gulfstream Park. Into Mischief, who now has 11 stakes winners, six of them graded, leads the 2023 General Sire list with over $5 million in progeny earnings to date.

Truth Seeker, who does his best running from off the pace, was far back early on in Saturday’s six-furlong race. He was about 10 lengths from the front with a quarter-mile to run. He came into the stretch under a full head of steam, and despite being nine-wide on the turn, he flew by the field to win by 1 ¼-lengths in 1:07.96 on the fast track.

Now a two-time stakes winner, Truth Seeker is 11-7-5 in 37 starts and has earned $323,152 for Hole-in-One Racing Stables, LLC.

Truth Seeker was bred by WinStar Farm and is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Constellation.
