Winfromwithin wires the field in the Red Bank S.

September 5, 2022

Into Mischief added to his lengthy list of 2022 stakes winners on Labor Day when Winfromwithin was a gate-to-wire winner of the $100,000 Red Bank S. at Monmouth Park.

The 4-year-old colt, who was a stakes winner in 2021, is the 21st black type winner for his sire this year and pushed Into Mischief’s progeny earnings in 2022 past the $18.5 million mark.

Winfromwithin showed his customary speed on Monday, going up by about two lengths in the first quarter mile. He held that advantage through the first six furlongs, then repelled a challenge by Nothing Better in midstretch to win by 1 ¼-lengths in 1:34.59 for the mile on the firm turf.

“The bar was high when I got him because Todd Pletcher had him before me and won a stakes with him,” said winning trainer Jorge Delgado, referring to the colt’s win in the 2021 Columbia S. “He had two good races in stakes company since I got him and the way he trains in the morning I always felt he would be a stakes winner for me.”

Winfromwithin now sports a record of 5-3-1 in 14 starts, with earnings of $289,515 for Lea Farms, LLC. The bay colt was bred by Mulholland Springs LLC and is the second foal out of Rau Breck, who is a half-sister to two-time Bernard Baruch S. (G2) winner Shakis.
