Into Mischief, Authentic win 2020 KTOB Awards

April 8, 2021

Into Mischief and Authentic were both named division winners at the April 7 Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Awards ceremony held at Keeneland.

Authentic, who won the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Classic, was named the Kentucky-bred Horse of the Year and top 3-year-old, mirroring his dual Eclipse Award-winning trophies he earned in both categories earlier this year.

Following the Breeders’ Cup, Authentic was retired to stud at Spendthrift Farm, joining his sire Into Mischief. He raced for Spendthrift Farm, MyRaceHorse Stable, Madaket Stables LLC and Starlight Racing and retired with earnings of more than $7 million.

Into Mischief, North America’s champion sire the past two years, was named Kentucky sire of the year. He has gotten off to another terrific start in 2021, already accounting for 16 black type winners, 30 black type horses, seven graded stakes winners, and 80 overall winners, leading numbers in each category.

Recipients of the 2020 KTOB Kentucky-bred champion awards were voted on by the full membership of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association and KTOB, while the KTDF category leaders were tabulated using purse money won at Kentucky racetracks in 2020.
