Cel’s Star widens First-Crop sire list lead for Maximus Mischief

Maximus Mischief is now up to 17 individual winners from his first crop after Cel’s Star broke her maiden by 4 ¼-lengths on Sept. 1 at Prairie Meadows [WATCH RACE].

Maximus Mischief has six more winners than any other freshman sire, and his $925,623 in progeny earnings is over $200,000 more than his closest pursuer.

Cel’s Star, who is bred, owned and trained by Christine Hicklin, vied for the early lead in Friday’s 5 ½-furlong contest before shaking free at the top of the stretch, then drawing off smartly to win with room to spare.

Out of the two-time stakes winner Celeritas, Cel’s Star is a half-sister to a pair of stakes performers.
