Authentic filly sparkles in stakes debut at Churchill Downs
June 13, 2026

La Rascasse, undefeated in two starts, looks like a filly with a bright future after her commanding victory in Saturday’s $175,000 Monomoy Girl S. at Churchill Downs.
The 3-year-old Authentic filly looked like a winner at every point of call in the 1 1/16-mile affair. She came out of the gate running and stalked Knickleandime through a half-mile of :47.46. Going into the turn, La Rascasse ranged up and passed Knickleandime with little resistance. With her jockey peeking back at the competition, La Rascasse bounded clear to win officially by 2 ¼-lengths under a hand ride.
“Axel (Concepcion) gave her a great trip,” winning trainer Will Walden said. “She sort of inherited the lead around the turn. She got a little green out there by herself, but that will improve with more experience.
“On paper, we thought (Knickleandime) would be the speed and we’d get a good stalking trip,” he added. “We were able to get a jump on the other fillies and Axel rode her perfectly.”
La Rascasse has earned $168,183 in her two starts for Resolute Racing, who purchased the filly for $750,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September sale. The dark bay filly was bred by Bill Klislt and is the first foal out of Hallawallah, whose dam Maryfield won the initial running of the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.
La Rascasse is Authentic’s 10th lifetime stakes winner. Currently third on this year’s Third-Crop sire list, Authentic stands for $15,000 S&N.
