Freedom’s Not Free gives Omaha Beach second stakes winner in three days
June 13, 2026

Freedom’s Not Free rocketed through the final furlong of Saturday’s Daytona S. (G3) at Santa Anita Park to score a heart-pounding win by a nose over Sumter.
The win comes two days after Omaha Beach’s Magnificat won the Desert Stormer S., also at Santa Anita. A two-time listed stakes winner in 2025, the Daytona is the first graded win for Freedom’s Not Free. Omaha Beach is well on top of the Fourth-Crop sire list, with $5.5 million in progeny earnings and a total of 15 black type horses.
Going 6 ½-furlongs on the downhill turf, Freedom’s Not free was well off the early pace and still had some six lengths to make up after the field crossed the dirt course. Switched to the middle of the track, the dark bay colt flew past six foes in the final sixteenth to score in dramatic fashion.
“[Trainer Mark Glatt’s] been talking highly, for months now really,” said Scott Sherwood of co-owner Blinkers On Racing. “He was 3-year-old when he left and he is a bigger, stronger 4-year-old now. You can see it. He is a good-looking animal and Mark had him ready.
“I thought he was too far back, if you know any of his races, he has always sat just off the pace. But that going a mile or a mile and an eighth. I thought, ‘oh, geez, he’s too far back.’ But he had clear sailing and he showed a turn of foot he has never shown.”
Blinkers On is co-owner with Janlois Racing, LLC, Valinor Racing Stable, LLC, Tom Corbett, Andy & Wagner Kwan and Jay Lester. Freedom’s Not Free is now 4-2-3 in 10 starts and has earned $343,080. The winner was bred in Kentucky by Cove Springs, LLC.
