Yaupon tops 2025 First-Crop Sire List

Yaupon sensational first year at stud finished with the Spendthrift stallion atop the 2025 First-Crop Sire list, with his $2,905,612 in progeny earnings nearly double any other freshman sire.
This is the fourth year in a row that a Spendthrift Farm stallion topped the First-Crop list. Yaupon was preceded by Vekoma, Mitole and Bolt d’Oro.
Yaupon has sired eight stakes winners at eight different tracks and in two countries, and has 13 stakes horses overall. His 30 individual winners also topped the year-end rankings.
Yaupon had three TDN ‘Rising Star’s during the year, including Sassy C W, who would go on to win stakes at Saratoga and Prairie Meadows.
At $211,854, Yaupon had the highest 2-year-old auction price average of any freshman sire with at least 30 lots sold during the auction season.
After breeding 198 mares in 2025, Yaupon’s 2026 fee is set at $60,000 live foal.
