Alan Porter Breeding Analysis for Hampton Court

An impressive grade one winner, Hampton Court is by Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice, the leading son of Danehill, and himself already represented by eight grade one siring sons.

Hampton Court is a Northern Dancer line horse with multiple strains of that horse, but breeding back over selected Northern Dancer strains should still work well here. Mares carrying Storm Bird, a genetic relative to Nijinsky II (who appears twice in Hampton Court) appeal, with Storm Cat being a prime candidate having already worked under Redoute’s Choice through Storm Cat himself, as well as Hennessy and Lion Heart (by Tale of the Cat).

The cross of Redoute’s Choice over mares descending from Northern Dancer through Sadler’s Wells has produced nine stakes winners, and could be pursued via El Prado and his sons Medaglia d’OroKitten’s Joy and Artie Schiller, as well as Horse Chestnut and Powerscourt. Out of mares descending from Nureyev – a three-quarters brother to Sadler Wells – there are Redoute’s Choice grade one winners out of mares by Nureyev himself and Stravinsky, and stakes winners out of mares by Peintre Celebre and Fasliyev. There are Redoute’s Choice line stakes winners out of mares descending from Deputy Minister through DehereTouch Gold and French Deputy, and Silver Deputy also looks potentially intriguing. Bringing in Northern Dancer through El Gran Senor, who is from the same family as Redoute’s Choice, also appeals.

Mares from the Mr. Prospector line look likely to suit Hampton Court well. From this line, we might particularly note success for mares descending through Gulch and Thunder Gulch (out of a mare by Storm Bird); Forty Niner (including Distorted Humor and End Sweep); Jade HunterKingmamboGone West (including through Grand Slam and Mr. Greeley); Seeking the GoldMiswaki; and Woodman. It might also be worth tryin Mr. Prospector through Street CryFusaichi Pegasus and Quiet American, and his grandson, Midnight Lute.

The Hail to Reason line has enjoyed considerable success under Redoute’s Choice, notably through Roberto and HaloRoberto has worked through Red Ransom and Kris S. and might be tried through Dynaformer. From the Halo branch, there is already a Redoute’s Choice line stakes winner out of a mare by More Than Ready.
