Alan Porter breeding analysis for ITSMYLUCKYDAY

A classic-placed millionaire from the Danzig line, Itsmyluckday is a winner of seven stakes events from five to 8½ furlongs, at two, three and four years of age.

Itsmyluckyday is by Champion Lawyer Ron, the sire of 14 stakes winners from just two crops. Lawyer Ron struck up a remarkable affinity with the Storm Cat branch of Northern Dancer, this cross providing him with four stakes winners, including grade one winner Drill, out of a mare by Storm Cat himself, and stakes winners out of mares by Cat Thief and Giant’s Causeway.

Langfuhr sired a grade one winner from a mare by Vice Regent, and out of mares descending from Vice Regent son, Deputy Minister. Lawyer Ron sired a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Touch Gold, and Langfuhr has a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Awesome Again, and stakes winners out of mares by French Deputy and Dehere. There are two stakes winners by Langfuhr from the Nijinsky II branch of Northern Dancer. The Danzig line has also done well with mares descending from Northern Dancer through Sadler’s Wells, and this cross is already represented by a Langfuhr line stakes winner out of a mare Medaglia d’Oro (whose sire, El Prado should be a positive in general).

The Langfuhr cross with Mr. Prospector line mares has not been the most prolific one, but there are certain branches that have prospered. These include Woodman, and his fellow Mr. Prospector/Buckpasser crosses, Seeking the GoldMiswaki and Mining. The Gone West strain looks particularly promising here and Langfuhr also has stakes winners out of mares descending from Mr. Prospector through GulchFusaichi PegasusStreet Cry, Two PunchConquistador Cielo and Forty Niner.

The Fappiano branch of Mr. Prospector might also do well here.

Lawyer Ron has a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Rahy and stakes winner out of a mare by Wekiva Springs (by Runaway Groom, sire of Cherokee Run), both from the Blushing Groom line. Langfuhr also has a stakes winner out of a mare by Housebuster (by Mt. Livermore, also sire of Orientate and Peaks and Valleys). Itsmyluckyday is out of a Seattle Slew line mare, and might benefit from crossing back over mares from that line. From the Hail to Reason line, Langfuhr had stakes winners out of mares from the RobertoStop the Music and Halo branches.
