Alan Porter Pedigree Analysis for Jimmy Creed

A grade one winning sprinter, Jimmy Creed is by Champion Sire Distorted Humor, out of brilliant grade one winner and multiple grade one producer Hookedonthefeelin.

The pedigree of Jimmy Creed is free of the strain of Seattle Slew, a line that has been a remarkably prolific one under Distorted Humor, including Champion Funny Cide and grade one winners Any Given Saturday and Lilacs and Lace.  Successful sources of Seattle Slew for Distorted Humor and his sons include A.P. Indy (sire of Pulpit, Malibu Moon, Mineshaft, Golden Missile, Old Trieste, Stephen Got Even, Congrats, Flatter, and Jump Start, and grandsire of Tapit and Sky Mesa), Slew o’ Gold, Slew City Slew and his son, Evansville Slew, Capote (sire of Boston Harbor and Matty G), Avenue of Flags, Slewpy and Slewacide.

On their sire’s side, Jimmy Creed’s offspring will be free of Northern Dancer at four generations, and Distorted Humor has met with success when crossed over numerous branches of Northern Dancer. He has an extremely good strike-rate with Sadler's Wells, and particularly through El Prado, also suggesting Medaglia d'Oro, Kitten's Joy, Artie Schiller and Horse Chestnut. We can also note success with Northern Dancer through Deputy Minister and his sons Silver Deputy (and his son, Posse), Touch Gold, Dehere and Awesome Again (sire of Ghostzapper). Mares by Northern Dancer grandson Dixie Union will create an intriguing inbreeding pattern, and Dixie Union is already broodmare sire of a graded stakes winning two-year-old by a son of Distorted Humor. Distorted Humor sired Belmont Stakes (gr. I) and Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) winner Drosselmeyer out of a mare by Nijinsky II son, Moscow Ballet, and there are two graded stakes winners by Distorted Humor sons out of mares by Nijinsky II son, Royal Academy.

The cross of Distorted Humor and his sons with mares descending from Turn-to through Roberto has been an excellent one, providing Champion and Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Preakness Stakes (gr. I) victor I’ll Have Another out of a mare by Arch (by Kris S., himself broodmare sire of a Distorted Humor line graded stakes winner, and also sire of Prized and You and I), as well as stakes winners out of mares by Red Ransom, Lear Fan, and Dynaformer. From the Halo branch of Turn-to there are stakes winners by Distorted Humor out of mares by More Than Ready and his sire, Southern Halo, which also suggests trying Halo through Devil’s Bag (sire of Devil’s His Due, Twilight Agenda and Diablo) and Saint Ballado (available through Captain Bodgit, Sweetsouthernsaint, Yankee Victor, Straight Man and Flame Thrower). Distorted Humor also has a stakes winner from the Best Turn branch of Turn-to from a daughter of Cox’s Ridge (sire of Out of Place, Sultry Song and Vanlandingham), as well as a grade one winner out of a mare by Cox’s Ridge himself.

From the In Reality line, Distorted Humor has a grade one winner out of a mare by a son of Valid Appeal (sire of Successful Appeal, Valid Wager and Valid Expectations), as well as a stakes winner from a mare by Relaunch, and a graded winner from a mare by that horse's son, Cee's Tizzy (sire of Tiznow). Relaunch through Officer might also be attractive.  In Reality through Known Fact would also be interesting, duplicating the excellent mare, Tamerett.

Distorted Humor has also done extremely well when crossed over mares descending from Damascus through Personal Flag and his sire, Private Account (available through Private Terms, Corporate Report, Secret Hello, Unaccounted For (broodmare sire of Distorted Humor line grade one winner Hoppertunity), Valley Crossing and Afternoon Deelites) and there is also a stakes winner from this line out of mare by Gilded Time.  We might also consider mares by Broad Brush (sire of Concern and Include), broodmare sire of Distorted Humor's multiple graded stakes winner Justenuffhumor.

Although Distorted Humor is a grandson of Mr. Prospector, he and his sons have enjoyed a measure of success when crossed back over Mr. Prospector line mares. Distorted Humor and his sons have enjoyed success with mares by Unbridled (by Fappiano), and his sons Unbridled's Song (sire of Songandaprayer, Even The Score and Rockport Harbor), Grindstone (sire of Birdstone) and Saarland, which also suggests daughters of Empire Maker and Broken Vow. Fappiano is also sire of Quiet American, whose son Real Quiet is sire of the grade one winning half-sister to Jimmy Creek, and broodmare sire of a stakes winner out of a mare by a son of Distorted Humor. Real Quiet’s son Midnight Lute, is sire of a grade one winner out of a sister to the dam of Jimmy Creed. It would also be interesting to introduce Fappiano through Cryptoclearance, who is sire of Victory Gallop, and grandsire of Candy Ride.

Distorted Humor’s grade one winner Flower Alley is out of a mare by Lycius, and his graded winner Sharp Humor is out of a mare by Hansel (a son of Woodman, whose is also represented in the dam of a Distorted Humor line stakes winner through Timber Country). Other Mr. Prospector line horses to appear as broodmares sires of Distorted Humor stakes winners include Half Term, Street Cry, Mining and Thunder Gulch and his son, Point Given. It would also be interesting to introduce Mr. Prospector through Gone West, giving linebreeding to Tamerett, and this could be achieved with daughters of Elusive Quality (broodmare sire of a Distorted Humor line stakes winner, and sire of Smarty Jones), Speightstown, Grand Slam, Mr. Greeley and Proud Citizen.

From the same Raise a Native line as Mr. Prospector, Distorted Humor has three stakes winners out of mares by sons of Alydar (by Raise a Native), two out of mares by Saratoga Six, and Alydar through Turkoman should also work well. There is also Distorted Humor stakes winner out of a mare Majestic Prince (a product of a similar Raise a Native/Ribot cross to Distorted Humor's sire Forty Niner), a strain that could be introduced through Maria's Mon and his son Monarchos.
