Alan Porter - Pedigree Analysis

Victor’s Cry is a grade one winning miler by the outstanding sire, and successful sire of sires, Street Cry.

Victor’s Cry is completely free of Northern Dancer, but is by a stallion who carries Northern Dancer’s dam, Natalma, and a double of Northern Dancer’s granddam, Almahmoud, and of a mare by a son of Icecapade, a three-quarters relative to Northern Dancer.

The Street Cry cross with Northern Dancer line mares has produced more than 60 stakes winners, 12 of them grade one. Twenty of these stakes winners are out of Danzig line mares, with the Danehill line – represented by Northern Light in the U.S. – being particularly predominant. Other successful representatives include Green Desert, Bertolini, Dayjur and Danzig Connection. Chief’s Crown, Boundary, Ascot Knight – who gives a very clever pedigree – Belong to Me, Langfuhr, Honor Grades, Anabaa, Polish Numbers, Pine Bluff, Exchange Rate, Hard Spun, War Chant and War Front. The cross of Street Cry with Storm Bird line mares has also been a very productive one, including a grade one winner out of a mare by Summer Squall, and grade one winner out of a mare by Forest Wildcat (sire of Wildcat Heir and D’Wildcat), a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Storm Cat, and a graded winner out of a mare by Tale of the Cat, as well as stakes winners out of mares by Storm Cat, and his sons Tabasco Cat, Harlan (sire of Harlan’s Holiday and Menifee) and Stormin Fever. Storm Cat might also be introduce through Giant’s Causeway – sire of a grade one winner out of a sister to Street Cry -  Storm Boot, Forestry, Hennessy and his son Johannesburg, Stormy Atlantic, Bernstein, Mountain Cat, Sir Cat, and Freud.

Street Cry and sons have also done well with Northern Dancer via Dixieland Band (broodmare sire of Street Cry’s Champion and Kentucky Derby winner, Street Sense), and available through Dixie Union (broodmare sire of Street Cry’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile scorer, New Year’s Day), Dixie Brass, Hook and Ladder, Citidancer, and Chimes Band; via Deputy Minister, who could be sourced via French Deputy (broodmare sire of a Street Cry line grade one winner), Awesome Again (broodmare sire of two Street Cry line stakes winners, and sire of Ghostzapper), Dehere, Silver Deputy, Touch Gold, Salt Lake, Forest Camp, and Deputy Commander; via Sadler’s Wells , and who could be brought in through El Prado and sons, Medaglia d’Oro, Kitten’s Joy, and through Horse Chestnut (broodmare sire of a Street Cry line graded stakes winner); and through Nureyev (who is available through Theatrical and Stravinsky, and through Atticus, already broodmare sire of Street Cry grade one winner Zaidan).

From the Hail to Reason line, Street Cry is sire of the magnificent Zenyatta, out of a daughter of Kris S., from the Roberto branch. Kris S. is sire of Arch, Prized, Brocco, You And I, and Kissin Kris, and Roberto could also be brought in through Dynaformer, Red Ransom, Silver Hawk, and Lear Fan. From the Hail to Reason line, Street Cry also has a grade one winner out of a mare by Doc’s Leader (by Mr. Leader), and a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Saint Ballado (sire of Captain Bodgit, Sweetsouthernsaint, Yankee Victor, Straight Man and Flame Thrower). Saint Ballado is by Halo, who could also be introduced through Devil’s Bag (a brother to Saint Ballado, and sire of Devil His Due, Abaginone, Twilight Agenda, and Diablo), Sunny’s Halo, Jolie’s Halo, Halo’s Image, and Southern Halo (sire of More Than Ready).

In general, Street Cry has not been exceptional with the Seattle Slew line, but he has two graded winners, one grade one, out of mares by Capote (sire of Boston Harbor and Matty G), and another out of a mare by that horse’s three-quarters brother Williamstown. From the Damascus line, Street Cry has a stakes winner out of a mare by Ogygian and a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Unaccounted For (by Damascus son, Private Account, who could also be introduced through Private Terms and his son, Afternoon Deelites, Personal Flag, Corporate Report, Secret Hello, and Valley Crossing). Damascus could also be brought in through Time For A Change (sire of Fly So Free) and Gilded Time. Street Cry also has two stakes winners, one grade one out of mares by Meadowlake, and a graded stakes winner out of a mare by New York stallion Thunder Puddles.
