Tiz Chris, Tiz Wonderful’s $525,000 2-year-old purchase by Stonestreet, scored a promising Maiden Special Weight victory at short odds on Oct. 4, rolling home by 2 ½ lengths at Belmont Park.
The dark bay or brown colt was second to Normandy Invasion in his debut last November, and he returned last month at Saratoga to finish a fast-closing runner-up at seven furlongs. Stretching out to 1 1/16 miles in his second start into his form cycle, Tiz Chris broke through at 1-5 odds from the betting public.
Out of the Kissin Kris mare Foolish Kiss, Tiz Chris was bred in Florida by Hickstead Farm. Stonestreet Stables bought Tiz Chris at the 2012 Ocala Breeder’s Sales March Sale, marking the highest-priced 2-year-old from the first crop of Tiz Wonderful.
Tiz Chris also represents Tiz Wonderful’s 45th winner in 2013, with more than half of those impressive Maiden Special Weight winners at major racetracks.
