Archarcharch colt breaks maiden in Japan

First-crop sire Archarcharch has gone “international” with a maiden special weight winner in Japan at Tokyo Racecourse. Arch King proved best in an “about” seven furlong contest for 2-year-olds, winning by 2 ½-lengths in a field of 16.

The winner was bred by Spendthrift Farm out of the stakes-placed Cherokee Run mare Profitability, who is a sister to Gallant Bob S. winner Bank Merger. Her dam Lucrative is a sister to two-time Grade 2 winner Banker’s Gold.

Archarcharch, a top-five Freshman Sire of 2015, is the sire of some 11 winners, including Bob Hope S. (G3) winner Toews On Ice. The Spendthrift stallion will stand the 2016 season for $5,000 live foal.
