Dontgetgladgetmad rolled home from last place to win the feature race Sept. 13 at Delaware Park to run his record to a perfect 2-for-2. He broke his maiden in his debut at the same track on June 12.
Using a running style similar to his maiden score, Dontgetgladgetmad was in the back of the pack for the first half-mile of the six furlong dash. Coming five-wide into the stretch, he cruised by the field to win going away by 1 3/4-lengths.
The bay colt earned $15,600 for his owner Florence Patitucci, and now has a bankroll of $30,600. Patitucci purchased him for $15,000 as a yearling at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Summer Sale. Bred by Rose Hill Farm in Kentucky, Dontgetgladgetmad is out of the mare Anna Lisa Beth, who has already produced 10 winners, including four-time stakes winner Synchronized and the stakes-placed duo of Itsawonderfulife and Christmas Affair.
Eight-year-old Don't Get Mad, who was bred in Kentucky, was raced by B. Wayne Hughes. By Stephen Got Even out of the twice Grade 3-placed Jolie's Halo mare Class on Class, Don't Get Mad won the Indiana Derby (G2) at Hoosier Park and both the Grade 3 Northern Dancer S. (where he set a stakes record of 1:42.46 for the 1 1/16-miles) and Derby Trial at Churchill Downs. In just seven days after the Trial, he came back in the Kentucky Derby (G1), where he was fourth beaten about three lengths.
