G1 winner Into Mischief sires first winner

Thursday, July 05, 2012

Avalon Rose, a two-year old filly from the first crop of Grade 1 winner Into Mischief, became her sire's first winner when she rolled to an 8 1/2-length victory in a maiden special weight heat at River Downs on Thursday, July 5th.

The bay filly broke alertly, quickly opened up a clear lead on the field and never looked back. Unchallenged throughout, Avalon Rose widened in the stretch to hit the wire in 59.98 for five-furlongs over a fast local main track.

Owned and trained by Gerardo Carrillo-Dominguez, Avalon Rose hails from the Unbridled's Song mare Unsaid. She was bred in Kentucky by Spendthrift Farm and Shawhan Place.

Into Mischief was a Grade 1 winner on the track as a two-year-old, capturing the CashCall Futurity (G1) at Hollywood Park in the fastest time in the last 17 years of the race. Never worse than second, Into Mischief was runner-up in the Malibu S. (G1) and San Vicente S. (G2) at three, and he retired with career earnings of $597,080.

By Harlan's Holiday, Into Mischief stands at B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm in Lexington, where he currently stands for a fee of $7,500, stands and nurses.
