Lunar Gaze shines in Gold Coast S.

Lunar Gaze, a 4-year-old Malibu Moon filly, scored her first black type win Saturday night with a game head victory in the $75,000 Gold Coast S. at Delta Downs.

The bay filly, who has won five of 10 lifetime starts, locked into a battle with Steel Cut about three furlongs from home, and after a prolonged duel, Lunar Gaze came out on top by a head, getting the mile in 1:39.21.

Lunar Gaze has racked up $140,056 in earnings for Late Night Stables LLC. Bred in Kentucky by Marc Keller, she is the first foal out of the stakes-winning mare Saarlight.

Malibu Moon, with seven stakes horses to date this year, is once again ranked in the top 10 on the General Sire list with just shy of $1.4 million in progeny earnings.
