Tiz Wonderful juvy debuts a Belmont winner

Saturday, June 22, 2013
Jake's Magic Hat overcame a three-wide trip to go on to a 2 1/4-length winner at first asking for the 2-year-old Tiz Wonderful June 21 at Belmont Park.

Owned by Joseph Bucci and trained by Eddie Kenneally, Jake's Magic Hat covered the five furlongs in :57.57 on a fast track.

Bred in Virginia by Hart Farm, the winner is the second foal out of Tico Breeze, whose dam Valay Bullet was a three-time stakes winner of $219,071 and has two other multiple stakes-winning siblings. Bucci purchased Jake's Magic Hat for $90,000 out of the OBS Select 2-year-old sale in April.

Tiz Wonderful currently ranks seventh on the Second Crop Sire list, with progeny earnings in excess of $940,000. His leading earner, My Happy Face, took the $90,000 Lotka S. at Belmont Park on June 13.
